So let me tell you about the second day or better said, segundo dia, amigos!
1st stop: Mercat de la Boqueria (Rambla, 91, 08002 Barcelona, Spain). We were starving, so we went to search a place for having a Spanish breakfast in La Boqueria, which was very close to us. There were 15 degrees, so we behaved like Danish people staying on the terrace. The waiter handled really well the challenge of speaking English, so he advised us what to eat. My choice, which was mainly his choice was not the best one, because I had butifarra, which is a sausage made of raw pork and spices. Guys were crazy about seafood and my friend had a vegetarian Catalan tortilla/ omelette. Obviously, we couldn’t refuse the large variety of smoothies of only 1,50 euros.
2nd stop: The Columbus Monument is a 60 m (197 ft) tall monument to Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
3rd stop: Carrer Nou de la Rambla, which is a busy side street of Ramblas and not to mention the up hills and down valleys, which were more like a a tough work-out. Our feet were unstoppable, so we were climbing until we reached a very high point (on a rooftop).
4th stop: Park Montjuic & Barcelona Olympic Stadium. What else can I add? A lot of stairs!
5th stop : Montjuïc Cemetery. It was established on 17 March 1883 and it contains more than150,000 graves. The design of the new monuments are inspired by by classic and Gotchic styles, while those of the Fin de siècle exhibit the influence of the Art-Nouveau design movement.
I was deeply impressed of this cemetery, despite of the fact that is a silent place of the dead.
6th stop: Plaça d’Espanya, which houses many famous tourist attractions such as: The Magic Fountain of Montjuic, The National Museum of Catalan Art, The Venetian Towers and Parc de Joan Miró.
7th stop: Lunch. We had a really tasty meal, but I don’t remember where. It was located around Plaza España. My friend and I paid 22 euros for a Seafood Paella.
8th stop: Home ( for aprox 1 hour )
9th stop : Dusk, which is a great bar with welcoming atmosphere and cheap cocktails, especially Mojito, which was one of our main attraction.
Adress: C/ Merce, 23, 8002 Barcelona, Spain (Sant Pere – Santa Caterina i la Ribera)
