visit italian part of switzerland, my ascona locarno, bloggers trip in switzerland

In May, I had the privilege of spending a 3 days bloggers trip in the Italian part of Switzerland at Parkhotel Brenscino ( I will give you more details about our staying in the next post) together with incredibly talented and hard working people thanks to Ascona-Locarno tourism agency.  I will include their Instagram accounts at the end of this post, so you can convince yourself.

We all know that Switzerland is covered in mountains and lakes but surprisingly there are regions in the Italian part of Switzerland rich in waterfalls such as Bavona Valley, at the top of the Maggia Valley.

The waterfall is a spectacular sight, rushing down an 80 meter high rock and right next to it there is a lovely picturesque village named Swiss Machu Picchu. The round hike takes about 90 minutes, without taking photos and videos, but of course you won’t resist without capturing the beauty of the nature. After a demanding hike, you must spoil your tummy with Ticinese specialties ( e.g. pizzoccheri ) at  La Froda Ristorante, right by the waterfall, a typical Ticinese grotto, which has been in operation since 1928.

How to get there

Starting from Locarno drive in the direction of Vallemaggia. Once you are in the Vallemaggia Valley, you can continue via Avegno- Maggia – Cevio – Bignasco to San Carlo/Val Bavona.

How to master the oversized trend ?

I know guys don’t even want to hear about it and would prefer to see you in super slim clothes, rather than loose ones, but you gotta follow the new rules in fashion. The secret is to mix them with feminine pieces.

l love the playful and sexy touch of the A-shape khaki skirt from here , but I wanted to calm it down somehow.  It’s chic and elegant, yet has a ‘street’ quality too so I thought it would look great with an oversized denim jacket with tribal embroidery from here. Whether your vibe is more safari chic, minimal or utility, there is something for everyone.

Mixing the jacket with fine textures, like a velvet or silk dress and statement jewellery changes the look of the jacket into a more precious one. The sweater from here in a yellow cheery shade together with my comfy over knee boots from here sweetens the whole outfit for a sunny day of spring. Also, the Rose Quartz bag from here brings additional chicness.

I am not done with travelling. In fact, I will never be as long as there are unexplored places. When my parents and I decided to go to Belgium, my boyfriend asked: ‘ Aren’t you sick of old buildings and getting lost?’ You probably know my answer already. Besides Bruxelles, Antwerp and Bruges are 2 must visit cities with impressive histories and beautiful places.

I can tell you more about Antwerp or the photos will talk by themselves: renaissance & modern buildings, vibrant nightlife, crazy bike riders, cosy cafes and gorgeous clothes shops.

Where to stay: Scheldezicht Hotel is situated in the heart of Antwerp,1 minute from Read more

They say Sundays are for laying in bed, watching a movie and eating junk food. I disagree, especially that this Sunday the 22nd of May will be Zulu The Color Run Aarhus. The event has been present since 2012. It became so popular that the event conquered  more than 40 countries with millions of runners in over 200 cities each year ever since. It’s purely a fun run where you will be covered in color from head to toe.

Why to train alone in the gym when you can run 5 km out surrounded by friends, sun and music in the background? Your body will thank you later for this outdoor activity and moreover you will have a blast. Let’s celebrate joy, healthiness and originality by joining Zulu The Color Run Aarhus. What are you waiting for?
Purchase your ticket from here .

What should you expect? Well, dance music blaring, DJ’s who are pumping up the crowd, cool people, prizes thrown out to the best cheerers and nevertheless many colors. Additionally, you will have crazy photos, free Lipton juice and Wish Smoothies.  Forgot to mention one of the best parts of the Color Run: the after party as everyone is painted and keeps on dancing just like here:

the atomium in brussels, what to visit in brussels, glamthug blog, trip in brussels blog, 10 reasons to love Brussels

It was love at first sight: Brussels and I. You will surely feel the same as me once you get there, so that’s why I will enumerate 10 reasons to love Brussels.

  1. Architecture. It was hard to decide what should be the on 1st place, but I guess this aspect amazed me the most since the Town Hall  was completed in 1420 . The architecture in Brussels varies from the clashing combination of Gothic, Baroque and Louis XIV styles on the Grand Place to the postmodern buildings of the EU Institutions. The must-sees are: Mont des Arts, Musical Instruments MuseumGrand Place, The AtomiumPlace Poelaert near Palace of JusticeArcades du Cinquantenaire, which was built between 1904 and 1905 by the architect Charles Girault. The triple arcade commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of Belgian independence).

2. Gaufres. Notable specialities include gaufres/waffles, therefore we ordered 2 different ones, Brussels and Liege with some delicious toppings over.

3. Chocolate. Shame on me! I didn’t try it but I know it well from the ice creams with Belgian chocolate. Did you know that Belgium and Switzerland are the most important producers of chocolate in Europe?

4. Royal Greenhouses of Laeken. Every spring, the Royal Greenhouses of Laeken are open to the public for 3
weeks. Mom and I were very keen to see the gorgeous flowers and architecture  of Alphonse Balat, but the 4 hours queue told us to come back other time. Read more

Are you looking for pumping up your adrenaline? Heide Park is the right place for you, but if you are not a fan of roller coasters  then the area of over 850,000 m² is perfect to walk or cycle in. However, you will feel like a kid again!

The normal ticket costs 37 euros, guaranteeing  good weather, which means that if it rains for more than 1 hour, you have the chance to come back for free. The parking fee is 6 euros for all day. Once you get there, you have to queue  between 10-40 minutes for each attraction. You can check more on Heide Park website.

However, we had the perfect weather and very little people, so we didn’t have to wait on any queues, and inclusively had the chance to ride some attractions more than once. It was the first time in my life in an amusement park and I will definitely go once again! You need to overcome your fears once in a while. I will list what I tried there:

  1. Colosos is the biggest wooden roller coaster: 60 m height and 110 km/h speed blows you away. I can’t express the intense feeling you get. You just have to try it!
  2.  Scream.  This will take your breath away! On top of the gyro-tower (71 metres) you can see the hole city in front of you for few seconds and then you  fall with a speed of over 100 km.
  3. Desert Race. The ride through hell and back, but beware: In 2.4 seconds you will go from 0 to 100 km / h speeds, this will absolutely thrill you, unless you are a Formula 1 driver!
  4.  Krake or Octupus in English. Yes, it does look and feel like an 90-degree drop! That’s how steep it is. You fall into the mouth of the Krake and do a loop and then a twist and it ends. Sounds simple, doesn’ t it?
  5. Big Loop The roller coaster takes you on a wild journey for 706 m length with a maximum speed of 67 km/h through two breakneck loops and a double corkscrew.
  6. Grottenblitz Train drives with up to 45 km/ h through steep turns, switchbacks and the interior of a mountain range.
  7.  Mountain Rafting. Do you need to refresh or rather get soaked wet?  Then try this one, because it’s of the largest of this kind in Germany and you will relax.

From where I live to Berlin there are only 580 km and dad and I thought that would be a good excuse to escape for awhile from Denmark. The Easter break was getting closer, so we decided to embrace the adventure. It look longer to get there than I was expecting, because of the traffic jams and, to be honest, one stop at Designer Outlet Neumunster .

We stayed at Park Plaza Berlin , a hotel with too many facilities for simple tourists, but we extremely enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is situated in Ku’damm, one of the most famous avenues in Berlin and it’s like Oxford Read more

Spring is FINALLY here and I emphasized ‘FINALLY’ because we have been waiting a lot for warmer days and flowers ready to bloom in Denmark. Spring is such a beautiful season! How exciting to see signs of life after winter. As long as spring is here, I will try to fill my room with flowers. You should try it too! It changes your mood instantly.

However, I would have loved to present you an outfit in the colours of the year (rose quartz and serenity), but unfortunately I couldn’t find the perfect items in the shops. Anyway, as today is the International Day of Happiness, I thought that would be nice to celebrate it with a new post here

Aceasta colectie  semnata de designerul Ramona Vartolomei are ca inspiratie mandalele, o lume a culorilor, a visarii, a intoarcerii la origini. Prezentarea a avut loc in Arena Mall pe 27 noiembrie 2015, in cadrul evenimentului de Black Friday.

“ Natura este cea care ma inspira, e de ajuns sa privim cateva clipe in jurul nostru si putem observa cum intreaga Creatie ne invita sa privim pictura sa sublima:forme geometrice, culori si multe altele.

How to get there and for how much? Probably, these are the questions that pop up in your mind.

Well, the trip costs  35 euros/person,  but be careful on what other services you are paying for, therefore make a deep research by asking around because the travel agencies can play you.  I am sure that you would rather drink a fancy cocktail than paying more for the same thing. However, there is an option for 45 euros of having  barbecue or buffet on the boat, but don’t expect high quality food. It takes Read more

Beach near Rome

What else is great about going to Rome besides discovering the history and tasting the great Italian food? Well, the fact that Rome is very close to the seaside and it  is nothing but great to dip your toes in the sand. After several discussions with my friend, we decided to take the train from Termini to Santa Marinella beach. We came to that decision mainly due to the easiness of getting there, be Read more

I must say that Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II and The Pantheon were two of the most outstanding tourist attractions that definitely caught my eyes. A vaporous orange-ish playsuit from H&M  gave me the energy to conquer Rome. Let’s discover more of Rome with the following photos!
