The 1st day of Northside Festival was like a dream that came true, because I had the amazing occasion to see Lana del Rey, but of course there were many levels to pass until I got there. I could have easily paid 250 euros for a ticket and enjoy the whole festival without any worry, but I did it in a cheaper and funnier way by applying as a volunteer. In fact, it’s not about the money, but it’s more about the experience that you get and how much you expand your network. Nevertheless, my good friend, Anca is a master in volunteering, so I followed her advice. If you want to enjoy 3 days of the festival, you will have to work 16 hours. So far so good. When I received the acceptance email, I was both exhilarated and afraid of the next steps, as my team was called ‘The trash truckers’. Feeling a bit disappointed, I wanted to give up, but the considerable fine of cheered me up.

The first day proved to be a real success and not a dirty work, as I was imagining.  My team and I , which consisted of 4 girls, was driving a truck, which was stopping by different bars to collect the big bags with PET bottles or with rests. We were having a lot of fun, because we were 4 beauties hidden by trash. Actually, all these trash truckers were looking very fancy, with accessories, sunglasses and nice dusty sneakers.

Moreover, we got a nice black ‘suit’ and a card with access for all the areas.

The day was very long and there were many artists present such as: Franz Ferdinand, The national, Oh Land,etc. Later on, we had a break and it seemed to be the perfect timing because Lana del Rey’s performance was about to start. My break was obviously longer than usual, because I was hypnotized by her voice. Her attitude made me a bit sick, because she was way too precious, even though I admired the simplicity of her outfit. Lana is that kind of artist, who is very peaceful and seductive on the stage, but this is her way of entertaining her fans. She sang  my favorite songs and the crowd was mesmerized. All in all, it was an unforgettable day, especially that it ended up by meeting a very kind Bulgarian girl, who let me to sleep in her room.
