From where I live to Berlin there are only 580 km and dad and I thought that would be a good excuse to escape for awhile from Denmark. The Easter break was getting closer, so we decided to embrace the adventure. It look longer to get there than I was expecting, because of the traffic jams and, to be honest, one stop at Designer Outlet Neumunster .
We stayed at Park Plaza Berlin , a hotel with too many facilities for simple tourists, but we extremely enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is situated in Ku’damm, one of the most famous avenues in Berlin and it’s like Oxford street. I know, pretty lucky,huh? In fact, I wasn’t because all the shops were closed, so I was only window shopping. Anyway, the best part of this accommodation was…the BATH TUB, besides the rich breakfast !!! Seriously, what else could you wish for after walking over 20 km? From now on I will try to book a room with bath tub, because it is so damn relaxing!
What is my impression about Berlin? Well, it’s a huge capital steeped in wartime history, in a ongoing transformation with old and new buildings, many embassies and tourists from all around the world.
1st day attractions: Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Column of Victory, Holocaust Memorial, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Der Berliner Dom,Berlin Television Tower, Alexanderplatz Square, The East Side Gallery and many embassies, way too many. “Der Berliner Dom” is also sometimes called as the “Vatican of Protestant” (it might be also because it is the centre of Protestant and the largest Protestant Church in Berlin). According to Wikipedia the architectural style is:
- Renaissance (until 1538)
- Brick Gothic (1538–1747)
- Baroque (1747-1817/1822)
- Neoclassical (1817–1893)
- Neo-Renaissance (since 1905)
