After having a challenging student life in Denmark for 4 years, I want to share with you what makes me an internationally minded person.
Being internationally minded is not something you can learn in lessons, it is an attitude, a way of thinking and being, of accepting other ways of thinking, cultures and doing are equally as valid as our own.

According to Wikipedia,  AIESEC is an international not-for-profit organization that provides students with leadership training and internship opportunities at for-profit and not for profit organizations. AIESEC, comes from the French acronym for Association internationale des étudiants en sciences économiques et commerciales (English: International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences). There are over 86,000 members come from a variety of college majors not necessarily from an area related to economic or commercial sciences. AIESEC is offering two products: GCDP ( Global Community Development Programme) and GIP (Global Internship Programme).

I joined AIESEC in September 2013, thanks to a friend, who I can easily call my mentor, considering how much she has been inspiring me lately. She was the president for our Local Committee and her future is now brightening with ECCO. Moreover, I was surrounded by AIESEC-ers: classmates and friends. AIESEC was slowly transforming into their only air existing in the atmosphere and I don’t know how, this air begged me to try it. At that time, I wanted to be ‘more than my degree’ and that was the suitable decision. This air had something magical that I had been looking for long time ago and that’s why I fell easily under AIESEC’s spell.

1st step: Send an email with the filled application form and wait for a miracle to happen.

2nd step: Go with no stress and give your best to get the acceptance at the interview .

3rd step: Get to know the other members and work hard.

I got off the bed to defeat the strong sunlight and start another exhilarating day with a brunch in a snug place or even in the park.

The girls were bossy with me,even in the morning, and they forced me to try a really healthy ‘breakfast’ : banana and spinach smoothie, which was the perfect treat.  I was aware that more food will satisfy my appetite in the upcoming hours, but that smoothie was enough for the moment. We were ready. All black, all danish style.  I was the tourist, who was stopping at every 2 minutes to take photos and admire the surroundings. They were supposed to be my tourist guides, but we were all acting alike: taking photos anytime, but at least we were all heading in the right way.

We were welcomed by the Queen’s March and yeah  we’ll never be royals (royals) It don’t run in our blood. Haha!

My caprice was to go to Strøget, which is the longest pedestrian shopping area in Europe. I wanted to be spellbound of how many well-dressed people are there, but not such a big luck because it was Sunday. My wallet was safe enough, thanks to the closed shops, but I couldn’t avoid to enter in Zara and guess what I’ve found. Sales, sales everywhere!

My friend was searching for the perfect little dress and I was unstoppable regarding what should I try on. I’ve finally agreed upon a pair of grey jeans, one cute black dress, one sweater, one navy jacket and other trousers, which looked horrible on me.  I decided to buy only two things: the dress and the coat, after dealing with my friends’ controversy.

Week 8- exhausting routine: internship, work, driving 120 km every 5 days of the week, sleep. I need a SPA day or to be spoiled.

It’s Friday and a friend is asking me to go out in the weekend, but without mentioning what he has in mind. Therefore, I refused him with no hesitation, but then he expressed his regret that I am not able to join him to a trip to Copenhagen and I had sincerely been thinking those days about going there. So, the situation made a 180 degree turn and I accepted.

It was 9 am and I was struggling to keep my eyes opened and finish the little luggage for the trip. I was packing in a crazy rush, but my friend calmed me down telling me that the other passengers are Italians, who are always late. I was finally in a eco- friendly FIAT with my friends and heading to Copenhagen. All was great, until we found out how much we have to pay, in order to pass The Great Belt Bridge : around 40 euros/ dkk. 320 for one way, so we had  thought we could swam on the way back.

It took only 3 hours to arrive in Copenhagen. We were ready to conquer the city, after having a big adventure with the driver/ the photographer, who had been driving driving without hands on the steering wheel because he had to take some photos.

Before doing that, we had to stop by the train station because my friend was going back to Italy next day and she had to get rid of her luggage. I have known how expensive is Copenhagen, because it was the third time going there, but this time it just left me with an empty wallet.  I paid 20 euros/dkk. 130 for a 24 timer ticket, which lets you use any kind of transportation and for all the zones. Luckily, the weather was so bright that we preferred to go by foot, rather than not visiting it properly and going by metro.KFC was in our way, so it worked like magic to have ‘lunch’ there. I’ve been fiending for that moment when I will be with a lot.

I told you I was planing an escapade with my friend. Hmm, it sounds a bit like a cliché to call it ‘escapade’, but why not, taking into consideration the ups and downs we had been through:

1.lassitude, 2.cold, 3.anger, 4.hunger, 5.satisfaction, 6.pleasure, 7.panic, 8. relax.

1.Lassitude: Let’s take it one by one.  After partying hard and coming home at 5 o’clock am because a friend’s birthday party, we were supposed to take the train from 10 in the morning, as far as I remember.  You cannot imagine what a nice jogging I made until I got to the train station. We were heading luckily to Aarhus. My bag was full of some makeup tools and food, because I didn’t have any time in the morning to prepare.

2.Cold: Welcome to Aarhus! Welcome to gloomy and windy weather.

20140109-DSC_0436

3. Anger: Cold weather and anger made a good pact to piss us off. No good photos, no opened shops, no people on the street. How can we survive 5 more hours in this city?

4.Hunger: Where to eat? Read more

Hello / γεια σας ( correct me if I’m wrong) ! I am in Greece for the first time and everything is perfect: warmth, cocktails, nights out ( unfortunately, with my parents), sleep, beach, sports(I haven’t even started) , trips and FOOOOD. It was a last minute decision to go to Sithonia and  I don’t feel sorry at all. Sithonia is one of the three arms  ( Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos).  That’s it because I’m running out of sun and it would be a pity to lose such hot day. I will keep you updated with more details. The photos were taken in the first day.

Holi is a Hindu religious festival, which involves coloured powder and a lot of fun. The purpose of it is to celebrate the beginning of a new season and especially to have unforgettable memories. Just look at our faces!  I could say that we were dirty colorful and we didn’t even care about that. In fact, we were searching for more and more coloured powder in order to take revenge against those who throw it in our faces.  DSR  had this extremely bright idea to  bring for us the powder.   At the beginning, you need to be wet so that, the powder will be stucked on your skin. Anyway, this substance is completely harmeless. Trust me, I’ve swallowed the powder for so many times and nothing wrong happened with me. I really have to find out from where can you get it and how much it is  . I had some additional clothes and then, we went to take a shower in the university, down in the basement. It was the maddest idea that we could ever had because we didn’t have any towels or other underwear, but at least we had shower gel and especially, joyful mood.

I am really thankful to all these people, who know how to enjoy life and share their happiness with the others. All the students are a part of making  this university unique and priceless.

You simply can’t refuse to not cherish each day of this amazing student life. So, YOLO ! ( only at VIA)1011019_4740042311086_1323249478_n

Yellow is for sure my colour and this party was insane. I felt like in Ibiza. What else could I add more?  We didn’t have music, but we had a lot of fun thanks to playing volleyball,  warming all around bonfire, jumping into the water or complaining that is too cold, but a drink more could be the solution. I think this is the easiest way to organize a party, because there’s a crowd of people, who are willing to get to know other people and enjoy being there. It was definitely a blast. I was there for more than 12 hours, starting at 3 pm and I was acting as a photographer, because as you can see I took plenty of photos ( around two thousands).  I got to know tens of people, because you know how popular you can become by owning a camera and obviously, wearing a tricky top. The hardest part came in the morning when I had to wake up early, in order to go and see ‘Hangover 3’  with DSR. I was lacking of energy, so I couldn’t pay too much attention. Moreover, It isn’t the movie wasn’t good enough, comparing to my high expectations, because I was half asleep with the blanket on and  trying to recover from such a mad night.

I’ve been always dreaming to live in a city where the seaside is at a couple of steps distance. I’ve just realised yesterday that my dream has become true, since I got here. Unfortunately, the beach is not arranged like the ones from watering places. However, people are going there to get some tan and enjoy the sun. My girls and I have done the same thing. We couldn’t refuse the rays of sunshine, so we established to bring something to eat and drink and take advantage of such a beautiful day.  22 degrees in Denmark mean a lot to danish people, but I remember how my mom is making fun of me when I tell her how happy I am because it’s ‘hot’ outside.  She’s probably envious on me because I really tanned. Moreover, I had summoned my courage up and took a bath inside the…SEA. YES!  I know it’s unbelievable because the sea has ONLY 14 degrees. Anyway, I am alive and I’m not coughing or having temperature.

It was an awesome experience and I would do it for thousands of times. Horsens is officially my new corner of heaven.

This crap called ‘danish weather’  is going crazy and I’m losing my temper. It’s basically raining with cats and dogs 🙂 . I come back from school because I had solved some problems with my Erasmus learning agreement. I thought that I will easily give up, but I was aware of that saying, which says: You can’t call it a battle unless you are struggling until the end and believe in it’ . I’ve been used to take things for granted and lose my interest for achieving something. It’s easier to pass the responsibility and let the others  do your task, but it brings a bigger fulfilment when you put a lot of effort into it.

Enough with my  philosophy. Let’s get a closer look to my outfit. The shirt was bought from London and I totally adore it. One disadvantage is that those spangles aren’t well fixed and I should sew them. I have a crush on green clothes and I’m thinking that my next swimsuit will be green ( emerald) as well.

I can finally  say that ‘this city never sleeps’. I went to a concert on Saturday and it was a blast. There were many bands singing, but also some dancers. The main artists that came were Muri & Mario ( This song is very popular in Denmark) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjvfER4StSY ) and Kristoffer Rahbek ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F2Jc6qQTCA ) . People came especially for them, but also to sustain their friends who were on the stage. I appreciated the simplicity of how this event was organised. Moreover, people were comfortably dressed and warm enough to face the cool air.  During the show, a friend of mine was making a fachiri show ( playing with fire). Many people were breathless, because it’s dangerous to do that and you need to practice hard. Moreover, it was very nice to see everyone dancing on the stage at the end of Muri & Mario’s performing. They really know how to entertain the crowd.

I will upload later some photos with me on a new post. Stay tuned  and enjoy the last hours of Sunday 🙂

This semester came almost to an end and  my university is throwing a party on each semester, as I’ve informed you before. See previous post about Army Party http://glamthug.com/2012/11/18/i-need-a-soldier/ .  DSR was in charge of everything. On their facebook page was created a poll with 3  themes: Moulin Rouge, Begger and I can’t remember the last one. Anyway, people have voted for the first one, which proved to be the perfect decision.  It was very nice organised and we had some few dancing moments held by Hip-Hop and Salsa team.

!!!  If they they had played musical songs I would have appreciated much more. It’s difficult to satisfy everyone, and probably not so many people would have enjoyed that. Anyway, that could have been another opportunity to get us more into the theme.

The students were dressed according to the dress-code: suit and tie/bow tie for men and …here comes the delightful part and it’s obvious about women. The significance of Moulin Rouge involves passion and of course red, once I have mentioned the precedent one. Girls were looking provocative from head to the toes. The hair was curly or braided and decorated with an abundance of accessories such as hats,  sequins, different feathers and small veils.

Then, you have two ways to choose what to wear. On one hand, you could opt for a sexy style by wearing a velvet dress ( like I wanted to) or be more burlesque with a corset, suspender hosiery and high heels.

On the other hand, you could choose somehow the androgynous style, which lies in a white blouse, bow tie, tail coat and shorts. I made my decision on last minute thanks to a friend.I was desperate to find what to wear and I had been searching the perfect costume for several days, but it was only misfortune. I wanted to borrow a bow tie, but then I remembered about my hair clip from H&M.

The party ended at 2 o’clock and then we had moved to an after party in the campus, until police came. They were coming for more that 3 times, because they didn’t know how to handle the noise, but then they found a solution.

I will upload later more photos from the party!

Stay tuned and enjoy your Sunday 🙂

Thanks Juan ( https://www.facebook.com/juan.morales.75839?fref=ts ) for the last photos!

I’m launching a new initiative, which consists in quick snaps. I will capture special moments and things or people that I admire. Unluckily, all these will be taken with my poor quality phone, but I will get a new one as soon as possible.Once a week I will update new photos, so stay tuned. This could be a great opportunity to be in touch with what’s going on in Horsens.
